give me coffee!
WineBottler packages Windows-based programs snugly into OS X app-bundles. No need to install emulators or operating systems - WineBottler uses the great open-source tool Wine to run the binaries on your Mac. I clicked on the supplied Steam install button, and ended up with a new application in my application folder - I called it Steam-winebottler.app because I've already got the standard Mac Steam.app. Steam-winebottler.app launched fine, did various updates, and eventually gave me what looks like a log-in window without any of the usual text.
Use WineBottler to run MetaTrader 4 & 5 on OS X, without installing Windows.
Due to popular demand I updated the automated Install of MetaTrader and made this short video HowTo on installing MetaTrader 4 and 5.
I'll come up with some more video tutorials, so subscribe to the new MikesMassiveMess YouTube Channel to stay tuned :).

With WineBottler you can finally run Windows applications on your Mac. Download it for free right here!
In the last few years, Apple’s Mac computers have become increasingly popular. Unfortunately, it can still be necessary to install Windows on your shiny new MacBook in order to run some of your favorite applications and games. WineBottler is a free tool that promises to solve this problem by actually letting you install Windows applications directly in Mac OS X.
The installation consists of several steps. First of all, you have to download and unpack the file by dragging WineBottler and Vine into a folder on your system, such as the normal one for applications. When you open WineBottler for the first time, Mac OS X will also ask you to install XQuartz, which can be found on this website. It is not that hard to get everything up and running, but WineBottler is definitely not for the regular user with no technical knowledge.
Basically, you can install any Windows application, but WineBottler comes with many automated installers for applications such as Firefox, Safari, Steam and so on. Since there are already Mac versions of those applications, we tried installing Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer and MS Paint instead. Internet Explorer did not work, but the others worked quite good. After installing something, you are supposed to see a list of all your Windows applications in WineBottler itself, but that did not work either.
Overall, WineBottler is a very interesting and perhaps useful application with a big potential, but it is not quite there yet. Everything does not always work, and installing it should definitely be easier so everyone can use it.Download WineBottler for Mac 1.6-rc5
